On Saturday, November 18, a dedicated bunch of teens that make up the library's Teen Advisory Board launched their first ever TAB-run program: a book drive to support Children's Hospital Los Angeles' Literally Healing program. This special program enables the hospital to run a small library for patients and their families to make their stay a little more bearable, and San Gabriel's teens threw a fantastic event on Saturday to raise awareness about the cause. They have a goal of 200 brand new books to be donated, and we believe they can get there.
How did the Friends help? We funded it! From the hundreds of bags of popcorn and chips to the many cups of juice and coffee, we kept the crowd happy. Also, customers lined up for free face painting and balloon animals. No one wanted to go home, and we're proud that we were a part of this.
Keep the teens in mind when doing your Christmas shopping. Get a children's book and drop it in the library donation bin when you next visit. You'll really make a difference.
